Electric Vehicle Charging
As one of the world’s largest energy suppliers, Shell has played a part in the essential journeys people make every day for well over a century. Our aim now is to become one of the largest electric charging solutions providers globally, meeting customer demand at home, at work or on the go.

Growing networks of electric charging points
Shell has set a target to operate over 500,000 charge points by 2025. Currently, we operate around 90,000 charge points for electric cars at homes, business, Shell retail sites and destinations. In addition, we currently offer access to over 300,000 additional charge points through our roaming networks.
Most convenient electric charging experience
We’re committed to providing customers with the best and most convenient EV experience available, enabling them to charge where, when and how they want. We are not only one of the world’s largest providers of electric charging solutions, but one of the fastest growing as well, installing a new charge point on average every 20 minutes, with plans to accelerate even faster.
In 2021, Shell announced an ambition to install 50,000 on-street EV charge posts in the UK by the end of 2025, through ubitricity, part of the Shell group. The move is part of a wider effort to bring more EV charging availability to those without private parking for home charging. Shell also announced its electric vehicle charging solutions portfolio companies will be unified under one brand – Shell Recharge Solutions - to simplify its customer offer.

Electric fleet solutions
Across our integrated offers, we are supporting commercial and fleet partners to decarbonize and electrify their fleets by providing integrated charging infrastructure and services. This includes charging infrastructure combined with power provision at their depots, and on-the-go payment services through the Shell Card and convenience retailing benefits when using fast charging at a Shell station.
Accelerate to Zero programme
The movement of goods and people for business purposes accounts for about a third of all journeys. In order to meet carbon targets, corporate cars, taxis and fleets are electrifying at a rapid pace. Shell is the only player that can offer a hybrid payment solution for hydrocarbons, power and road services to business customers across markets and regions. The Shell Fleet Solutions Accelerate to Zero programme brings together full range of consultancy services and products in a tailored programme to meet your fleet's specific decarbonisation needs, partnering with you at every stage on the journey to a truly sustainable future both for your fleet and your business.
E-fluids
Electric vehicles require specially developed fluids and lubricants. The Shell E-Fluids range covers the specialised needs of battery-electric and fuel-cell electric passenger and commercial vehicles. Power
Low-carbon energy sources such as wind farms and photovoltaic (PV) systems turn energy from wind or light into the electricity needed to meet the needs of commercial, industrial and residential customers.
Business, Retail and Fleet Charging
Charging whilst parked at work or during leisure activities is a convenient way to recharge. From a business point of view, having a charge point at the workplace will become increasingly important as a facility for employees and visitors. Fleet companies with electric vehicles will also need a reliable charging service at their base.
Charging On-the-Go
On forecourts electric fast charging services are developed for drivers who need to recharge their vehicle during their journeys. High-powered fast or super-fast chargers (50kW to 350kW) can charge an electric vehicle in between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on the size of the battery.
Home charging
Charging at home is often the most convenient and cost effective way for private customers to recharge their cars, as it is where most cars are parked overnight. Regular charging (up to 22kW) units are wired to the central metering unit. They are usually on their own circuit for safety and to enable monitoring separate from other electric loads.
